SERMON TITLE: WHEN MEN SLEPT Main Text: Matthew 13:25 Supporting Texts: Matthew 26:40–41, 1 Peter 5:8, Matthew 11:12 INTRODUCTION Life is spiritual, whether people realize it or not. Many battles people face today did not start today, they began when they were spiritually asleep. Jesus revealed a mystery: the enemy operates in unnoticed moments. Key Statement: “What you ignore spiritually, the enemy will exploit.” POINT 1: THE REAL MEANING OF “SLEEP” Sleep is not physical, it is spiritual negligence. Scripture: Matthew 26:40 – Jesus found the disciples sleeping instead of praying. What spiritual sleep looks like: No prayer life Inconsistency with God Lack of sensitivity to sin Carelessness in spiritual matters Illustration: A security guard who sleeps on duty doesn’t stop thieves, he invites them.
