50 Powerful Prayers for God to Turn the Battle Against Your Enemies With Bible Verses

Key Scripture

Esther 9:1

“Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same... when the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them... it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them.”

This is a powerful picture of divine reversal. What the enemy planned against God's people did not end according to the enemy's expectation.

Job 5:12 says:

“He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.”

And Nehemiah 4:15 says:

“And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought…”

God is able to expose evil counsel, frustrate wicked schemes and preserve His people.

CONFESSION

Job 22:28, Esther 9:1, Job 5:12, Nehemiah 4:15

I believe and trust in the power of the living God to deliver me from evil, frustrate every wicked plan against my life and turn situations around according to His righteous will.

Every counsel of darkness against me and my household shall fail.

Every evil expectation concerning my life shall be disappointed.

Where the enemy expects defeat, the Lord shall give me victory.

Where the enemy expects shame, the Lord shall give me testimony.

Where the enemy expects sorrow, the Lord shall give me songs of praise.

The God who delivered His people in Scripture is still able to deliver, defend and preserve His children today.

The Bible says in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”

Therefore, I refuse to live in fear.

I refuse to surrender to intimidation.

I refuse to accept defeat as my portion.

The Lord is my defender.

The Lord is my refuge.

The Lord is my helper.

Every legitimate purpose of God for my life shall stand.

Every evil plan that contradicts God's purpose for me shall fail.

The Lord shall turn situations around for His glory, give me wisdom in the face of opposition and lead me safely into victory.

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

INTRODUCTION

There are seasons when a person may experience intense opposition, repeated setbacks, strange resistance or situations that appear to be moving toward disgrace.

Sometimes the problem may involve people.

Sometimes it may involve difficult circumstances.

Sometimes it may arise from poor decisions, misunderstanding, financial difficulties or other practical situations.

And sometimes believers understand certain opposition through the lens of spiritual warfare.

Whatever the source of the battle, the Bible repeatedly directs God's people to place their confidence in Him rather than in fear.

The story of Esther gives us a remarkable example of divine reversal.

An evil plan had been established against the Jewish people. Their enemies expected to prevail against them.

But God intervened.

Esther 9:1 records that the situation was “turned to the contrary.”

What was expected to become a day of destruction became a day of victory for God's people.

This does not mean that believers should wish harm upon people or take personal revenge.

Rather, we can ask God to stop evil, expose wickedness, defeat unjust opposition, protect His people and overturn circumstances according to His righteous judgment.

Romans 12:19 says:

“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

Therefore, our confidence is not in human retaliation.

Our confidence is in God.

When the battle becomes intense, do not allow fear to control your heart.

When people oppose you, ask God for wisdom.

When evil is planned against you, ask God to frustrate it.

When you face spiritual opposition, stand upon the Word of God.

When circumstances appear to be turning against you, remember that God can turn the situation around.

The God who made a way for Israel at the Red Sea, who delivered Daniel from the lions and who overturned the expectation of Israel's enemies in Esther's time is still sovereign.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR GOD TO TURN THE BATTLE?

When we ask God to turn the battle against our enemies, we are asking Him to:

• Defeat evil plans.
• Expose hidden wickedness.
• Frustrate unjust counsel.
• Protect us from harm.
• Deliver us from spiritual oppression.
• Give us wisdom when facing opposition.
• Turn situations around according to His will.
• Preserve our families.
• Restore what has been lost.
• Give us victory without requiring personal revenge.

The Bible says in Psalm 37:5:

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

Our responsibility is to trust God, obey His Word and walk in righteousness.

God remains the Judge and Defender.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF DIVINE REVERSAL

1. Esther and the Jews

Haman planned destruction against the Jews.

The situation appeared extremely dangerous.

But God intervened through Esther and Mordecai.

The enemy's plan was overturned.

Esther 9:1 records that the situation was turned to the contrary.

This demonstrates that circumstances can change when God intervenes.

2. Nehemiah and the Builders

When Nehemiah and the Jews rebuilt Jerusalem's wall, their enemies tried to intimidate and discourage them.

Yet God frustrated their counsel.

Nehemiah 4:15 says that God had brought their counsel to nothing.

The work continued.

3. David and Goliath

Goliath expected victory over David.

David appeared to be the weaker opponent by human standards.

Yet David trusted God.

1 Samuel 17:47 says:

“The battle is the LORD'S.”

The victory demonstrated God's power rather than human strength.

4. Joseph

Joseph experienced betrayal, slavery and imprisonment.

Yet God eventually transformed his circumstances and gave him a position of influence.

Joseph later told his brothers in Genesis 50:20:

“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”

5. Daniel

Daniel's enemies plotted against him and manipulated the law to have him condemned.

Yet God preserved Daniel in the lions' den.

Daniel 6:22 says:

“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths…”

God was able to preserve His servant in the middle of opposition.
