DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT OF BAD LUCK AND LOST OPPORTUNITIES WITH BIBLE VERSES

Anchor Scriptures

Isaiah 60:1; Psalm 105:17-20; John 2:4; John 5:1-8; Genesis 7:23; Exodus 12:36; Judges 13:8-9; Ezra 7:6; Nehemiah 2:7-8; Luke 1:28; Daniel 6:1-3.

The spirit of bad luck and lost opportunities prevents people from entering their destinies.

The opposite of this spirit is the spirit of favour and grace, which can empower us to fulfill God’s purpose and plans for our lives.

The Bible says:

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.” — Isaiah 60:1

God does not want His children to remain in perpetual disappointment, missed opportunities, repeated setbacks, or cycles of frustration.

There are seasons when opportunities come, but something seems to happen just before the expected breakthrough.

There are people who work hard but continually experience disappointing outcomes. Others receive promises of help, but the help never materializes. Some arrive at the place of opportunity only to discover that the opportunity has already passed.

This is why prayer is necessary.

We must ask God to expose every spiritual obstacle, destroy every satanic pattern, restore lost opportunities, and bring us into our appointed seasons of favour.

SIGNS OF BAD LUCK AND LOST OPPORTUNITIES

Some of the indications of the presence of the spirit of bad luck and lost opportunities in a man's life are:

• They always miss their timings either by omission or commission.
• You are promised help or favour by people, but before they can help you, bad things happen to them, making them unable to fulfill their promises to you.
• On the day you are invited to receive a favour or help, things beyond your control or things you don't understand mysteriously or forcibly keep you from going to the place of help or blessing.
• In the midst of many people, you are always singled out for rebuke, reprimand, query, suspension, retrenchment, or victimization for no just cause.
• You are always punished for other people's crimes and offences.
• People somehow find it difficult to help you. They'll rather give their help to someone else who is less deserving.
• You or others make great efforts to make something or an occasion very successful, only for you to make a little silly mistake that ruins the whole thing.
• You always have last-minute disappointments.
• Despite your gifts, talents, and potentials, men find it easy to forget, ignore, or bypass you.
• Your progress is not commensurate with your efforts. Your input always exceeds the output.
• In the midst of many people, you are the one disaster strikes all the time.
• People with bad luck are always visited with regular repeated tragedies.

These patterns can become extremely frustrating, but God's Word gives us hope.

Joseph experienced a season when he appeared forgotten, yet his appointed time eventually came.

“Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.” — Psalm 105:19

Daniel was also distinguished among others.

“Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him.” — Daniel 6:3

God can cause a person who has been overlooked to become remembered.

God can open doors that human beings cannot shut.

“For thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” — Revelation 3:8

WHEN OPPORTUNITIES KEEP DISAPPEARING

There are situations where a person repeatedly comes close to breakthrough but never enters it.

An opportunity appears, then disappears.

A favour is promised, then withdrawn.

A door opens, then suddenly closes.

An important person remembers everyone else but forgets you.

A person is almost selected, but at the last minute something changes.

These experiences can create discouragement and frustration.

However, we must continue to trust God.

Joseph was forgotten in prison, but God eventually caused him to be remembered.

“Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.” — Genesis 40:23

But the story did not end with Joseph being forgotten.

God eventually brought him before Pharaoh.

“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon.” — Genesis 41:14

Your present condition does not have to become your permanent condition.

DIVINE TIMING

There are opportunities that require divine timing.

Jesus told His mother:

“Mine hour is not yet come.” — John 2:4

There is an appointed time for many things.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says:

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Therefore, pray for sensitivity to divine timing.

Pray that you will not miss the people, places, opportunities, instructions, and seasons that God has prepared for you.

GOD CAN RESTORE LOST OPPORTUNITIES

When something is lost, God can restore.

The Bible says:

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” — Joel 2:25

God can restore wasted years.

He can restore lost opportunities.

He can restore relationships.

He can restore businesses.

He can restore careers.

He can restore favour.

He can restore opportunities that appeared permanently closed.

What looks impossible to man is not impossible with God.

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” — Luke 1:37

GOD'S FAVOUR CAN CHANGE YOUR STORY

The opposite of repeated misfortune is not simply human luck; it is the favour and grace of God operating upon a person's life.

When God's favour speaks, doors can open.

Esther received favour.

Mary received favour.

Joseph received favour.

Daniel received favour.

Nehemiah received favour.

Ezra received favour.

The Bible says:

“And the king granted him, according to the good hand of the LORD my God upon me.” — Ezra 7:6

And Nehemiah testified:

“And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.” — Nehemiah 2:8

May the good hand of God rest upon your life.
