50 Powerful Prayers to Destroy the Walls of Jericho in Your Life With Bible Verses.
Key Scripture
Joshua 6:20
“So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat.”
Bible Passage
Joshua 6
Introduction
Jericho was a fortified city surrounded by walls that appeared impossible for Israel to overcome.
Israel did not bring down those walls through military strength alone. God gave them specific instructions, and when they obeyed Him, the walls came down.
Joshua 6:2 says:
“And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho.”
The wall was still standing when God made that declaration.
This teaches us something powerful: what looks impossible before your eyes is not impossible before God.
There may be walls around areas of life that need divine intervention—walls of limitation, repeated failure, stagnation, fear, opposition, financial hardship, delayed opportunities, family patterns, or other obstacles.
These prayers are designed as fervent prayers of faith and spiritual warfare, standing on the power of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Your Jericho wall can come down.
What Does the Wall of Jericho Represent?
The physical walls of Jericho were real historical fortifications. In personal prayer language, believers may also use “Jericho walls” as a picture of barriers that seem to prevent progress.
These may include:
- Persistent limitation
- Repeated disappointment
- Stagnation
- Fear
- Delayed opportunities
- Financial hardship
- Destructive family patterns
- Opposition
- Confusion
- Discouragement
- Barriers to legitimate advancement
The important lesson from Joshua 6 is that God is able to overcome obstacles that appear greater than human strength.
How Did the Walls of Jericho Fall?
God gave Israel a strategy.
They were commanded to:
- Obey God's instructions.
- March around Jericho.
- Carry the ark of the covenant.
- Remain disciplined.
- Wait for God's appointed moment.
- Shout when instructed.
The walls fell because God acted in response to obedient faith, not because shouting is a magical formula.
Likewise, our confidence today is not in a ritual. Our confidence is in God.
Zechariah 4:6 says:
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Biblical Lessons From Jericho
1. God Can Overcome Impossible Barriers
Luke 1:37 says:
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
2. Obedience Matters
Israel had to follow God's instructions even when they did not understand everything He was doing.
3. Faith Must Remain Persistent
They marched around Jericho repeatedly before they saw the wall fall.
Sometimes breakthrough requires persistent prayer and patience.
4. God Determines the Timing
The Israelites had to wait for the seventh day and the appointed moment.
5. Victory Belongs to God
Israel could not boast that human strength destroyed Jericho.
Joshua 6:16 records the command to shout because the Lord had given them the city.
Prayer Preparation
Before beginning these prayers:
A. Thank God
Thank God for your life, His mercy, salvation, protection, and everything He is doing in your life.
B. Confess Your Sins
Confess known sins before God and ask for mercy.
Where there are family patterns that concern you, bring them before God without assuming that every family difficulty is automatically a spiritual curse.
1 John 1:9 says:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”
C. Praise and Worship
Spend time praising and worshipping God.
Praise shifts your attention from the size of the wall to the greatness of God.
