50 Powerful “My Story Must Change” Prayer Points With Bible Verses

Key Scripture

John 9:1–9

The man in this passage had lived with a condition that had affected his life for years. People knew him according to his old story. But when he encountered Jesus, his story changed.

Jesus asked for the works of God to be made manifest in his life.

John 9:5 says:

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

And Jesus changed the man's story.

Your story can change too.

INTRODUCTION

There are seasons in life when a person desires nothing more than a change of story.

You may have experienced repeated disappointment, stagnation, delay, rejection, failure, financial hardship, broken relationships, unanswered prayers or situations that seem to have continued for too long.

But your present situation does not have to become the final chapter of your life.

Jesus Christ is the Story Changer.

When Jesus encountered the man in John 9, He changed a story that had been marked by blindness into a testimony that everyone could see.

The man who had been known as blind was now able to see.

John 9:8 says:

“The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?”

His condition had changed so dramatically that people began asking whether he was the same person.

That is what a divine encounter can do.

There is no situation that is beyond the power of God to transform according to His will.

There is no life that God cannot restore.

There is no broken place that He cannot heal.

There is no closed chapter that He cannot use as the beginning of a new testimony.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHOSE STORIES CHANGED

1 Chronicles 4:10 records his prayer:

WHAT DOES “MY STORY MUST CHANGE” MEAN?

When we pray, “My story must change,” we are asking God to intervene in the areas of our lives where we need transformation.

It can mean:

1. The evil name attached to your situation changes.

Instead of being known by failure, rejection or disappointment, God gives you a new testimony.

2. Every evil agenda against your destiny is terminated.

What was designed to destroy your future shall not prevail.

3. Mockery changes into celebration.

Those who once saw your tears can eventually witness your testimony.

4. Your glory begins to manifest.

Your gifts, opportunities and God-given potential begin to find expression.

5. Shame gives way to honor.

Isaiah 61:7 says:

“For your shame ye shall have double…”

6. Your Pharaoh and Goliath lose their power.

God gives you victory over the obstacles standing against your progress.

7. Evil plans against your life are frustrated.

Job 5:12 says:

“He disappointeth the devices of the crafty…”

Your story changing does not necessarily mean that every person who opposed you must be destroyed. It means that every evil agenda against God's purpose for your life must fail.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

You need to reconcile yourself with Jesus Christ, the Story Changer.

Repent from sin.

Return to God.

Believe His Word.

Cry unto Him in faith.

Praise Him even before you see the answer.

And pray these warfare prayers with confidence in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 34:17 says:

“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”

BEFORE YOU PRAY

A. Thank God

Thank God for your life and for what He will do through these prayers.

B. Confess Your Sins

Confess every known sin before God and sincerely repent. Ask for mercy and cleansing through Jesus Christ.

C. Quality Praise and Worship

Praise God before presenting your requests.

Psalm 100:4 says:

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise.”
