Introduction
There are people who appear strong on the outside but are struggling with deeply rooted family problems.
Some have ability but continually experience failure.
Some work hard but repeatedly experience fruitless labour.
Some experience recurring problems in marriage, finances, health, relationships, education, business, career, or other areas of life.
In spiritual-warfare teaching, an evil altar refers to a place, system, dedication, covenant, or pattern of worship associated with practices that oppose God.
The Bible gives us examples of people who confronted ungodly altars.
When God called Gideon, one of his first assignments was to pull down his father's altar of Baal.
Judges 6:25–26 records God's instruction to Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal and build an altar to the Lord.
This teaches us an important spiritual principle:
What is contrary to God must not be allowed to remain in control of a person's life.
However, it is important to understand that not every family problem automatically proves that an evil altar exists. Some difficulties come from personal decisions, learned family patterns, social circumstances, injustice, health conditions, or other natural causes.
Therefore, spiritual warfare should be accompanied by repentance, obedience to God's Word, wise decisions, and appropriate practical action.
Our ultimate confidence is not in our ability to fight an altar.
Our confidence is in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.
Colossians 2:15 declares that Christ disarmed principalities and powers and triumphed over them.
What Is an Evil Altar?
In the biblical context, an altar can be a place of worship, sacrifice, covenant, remembrance, or encounter with God.
Not every altar in Scripture is evil.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, and others built altars to the Lord.
An evil altar, therefore, refers to an altar associated with false worship, idolatry, occult practices, ungodly sacrifices, or covenants contrary to God.
It may represent:
- A place associated with false worship.
- A place of sacrifice.
- A place associated with ungodly covenants.
- A place where evil intentions are expressed through religious or occult practices.
- A system of spiritual allegiance contrary to God.
- A place associated with idolatrous worship.
- A symbol of an ungodly spiritual influence.
The Bible repeatedly condemns idolatrous worship and calls God's people to destroy their idols and turn completely to Him.
Exodus 20:3:
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
What Does It Mean to Pull Down an Evil Altar?
Pulling down an evil altar does not mean physically attacking people.
It means renouncing every ungodly spiritual allegiance and placing one's complete trust in Jesus Christ.
It can involve:
- Repentance.
- Renouncing idolatry.
- Rejecting occult practices.
- Breaking ungodly spiritual commitments.
- Praying against evil spiritual influences.
- Destroying physical objects associated with occult worship where this can be done safely and appropriately.
- Replacing ungodly worship with wholehearted devotion to God.
- Establishing one's life upon the Word of God.
Judges 6:26 shows that Gideon's assignment was not merely to destroy something; he was instructed to build an altar to the Lord.
This is important.
Freedom is not simply about tearing down; it is also about establishing your life upon Christ.
Biblical Examples of Confronting Evil Altars
1. Gideon and the Altar of Baal
God commanded Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal.
Judges 6:25–27.
Gideon obeyed despite opposition.
2. Elijah and the Prophets of Baal
Elijah confronted false worship on Mount Carmel.
1 Kings 18:38–39 records God's dramatic response by fire.
The people declared:
“The LORD, he is the God.”
3. Josiah Destroyed Idolatrous Worship
King Josiah led major reforms and removed idolatrous practices from Judah.
2 Kings 23:4–25.
His actions demonstrated the seriousness of removing false worship from the nation.
4. The Early Church Renounced Occult Practices
When people in Ephesus believed in Christ, some publicly abandoned their former occult practices.
Acts 19:19:
“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men.”
Their deliverance involved both faith in Christ and separation from their former practices.
How Family Patterns Can Affect a Person
Family patterns can be transmitted through:
- Learned behaviour.
- Family beliefs.
- Repeated decisions.
- Harmful traditions.
- Abuse and trauma.
- Ungodly religious practices.
- Idolatry.
- Occult involvement.
- Destructive relationship patterns.
- Financial habits.
- Addictions.
- Unforgiveness.
- Other repeated behaviours.
Not every family pattern is supernatural.
But whatever its source, a destructive pattern can be confronted through the power of God, truth, repentance, wisdom, and changed behaviour.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
Your family history does not have to determine your future in Christ.
Signs That a Family Pattern Needs to Be Confronted
These may include:
- Repeated destructive behaviour across generations.
- Persistent involvement with idolatry or occult practices.
- Repeated marital breakdown.
- Recurring addiction.
- Generational bitterness and unforgiveness.
- Repeated financial irresponsibility.
- Persistent family conflict.
- Repeated involvement in destructive relationships.
- Patterns of abuse.
- Family traditions that contradict God's Word.
- Fear connected to former occult or idolatrous practices.
These signs should be examined carefully rather than automatically attributed to demonic activity.

Hi my children, grandkids, myself have been evil worked against. I'm led to believe that is a family altar from my mother my sister my Aunt and their sorceress. All three of my children are incarcerated in prison and I have a twin daughter I've never seen before I'm a single grandparent just like I was a single mother, my husband been in prison 25 years, my grandson's was attacked, my family was separated and it's just me and my two grandsons and I have two more grandson; yes somebody decide to separate me and my family to hurt me what do I do at this point? Because I know it's witchcraft or black magic or something.
ReplyDeleteYou fast, pray and dedicate your family and yourself to God. Intercede for your family as in Isaiah 58 and loose yourself and family from the enemy. Pray for your family's salvation and perfection. Ask God what is the root of your troubles and the solutions to them, plus to restore you all as in Isaiah 42 and 43. Pray at midnight or 2 hours before 12 AM and after midnight to do all types of prayer (3 hours or more). Loose the angels God has assigned to you all, even for your sleep. God bless you in His Truth.
