Introduction

This means a Christian does not need to live in terror, constantly wondering whether an evil word has power over his or her destiny.

A curse can be understood biblically as a pronouncement of judgment, evil, or calamity, or as a consequence associated with rebellion against God.

Jesus rejected the assumption that every person's suffering could simply be explained by personal or inherited sin.
In John 9:1–3, when the disciples asked whether a man's blindness was caused by his own sin or his parents' sin, Jesus did not accept that simplistic explanation.
Therefore, believers should seek God's wisdom rather than automatically labeling every hardship a curse.

In Christ, a person can enter a new spiritual identity.

Prayer should therefore be accompanied by wisdom, repentance where needed, appropriate professional help, and practical action.
