CONFESSION
Galatians 3:13
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.”
I declare that Jesus Christ has redeemed me.
I am not a prisoner of my family history.
I am not a slave to negative family patterns.
I am not destined to repeat every negative occurrence that has happened before me.
The blood of Jesus speaks better things concerning me.
Every evil pattern assigned to repeat itself in my life shall break.
Every negative family covenant working against my destiny shall lose its power.
Every evil altar speaking against my progress shall be silenced.
My life shall follow the divine pattern of God.
I shall fulfil my destiny.
I shall prosper according to God's purpose.
I shall become what God has ordained me to become.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
INTRODUCTION
Families are tied together by blood relationships, shared history, upbringing, environment, and generations of experiences. Because of this, certain characteristics, circumstances, and behaviours can appear repeatedly within a family.
Some family patterns are positive.
There may be families known for education, entrepreneurship, integrity, ministry, generosity, excellence, or strong relationships.
But there can also be negative patterns.
A family may repeatedly experience particular forms of failure, addiction, broken relationships, poverty, rejection, delay, conflict, destructive behaviour, or other difficulties.
In deliverance ministry, these recurring negative patterns are often described as evil family patterns or foundational patterns.
The important thing is not merely to observe the pattern.
It must be confronted in prayer.
The Bible gives us an example in the life of Abraham and Isaac.
Abraham encountered a situation involving his wife in Gerar and was afraid concerning his identity and safety. Years later, Isaac encountered a similar situation concerning his wife.
“And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister...” — Genesis 12:13
Later, Isaac said concerning Rebekah:
“She is my sister...” — Genesis 26:7
There was also a repeated experience of barrenness.
Sarah struggled with barrenness before Isaac was born.
Rebekah was also barren before Isaac prayed for her.
“And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.” — Genesis 25:21
Were these merely coincidental repetitions?
The Bible gives us these accounts to teach us, warn us, and help us recognize patterns.
At the same time, Scripture also teaches us that our future is not controlled by our past.
In Christ, there is a new beginning.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
That is why we must not merely identify negative patterns.
We must pray against them.
WHAT ARE EVIL FAMILY PATTERNS?
An evil family pattern is a repeated negative occurrence, behaviour, condition, or cycle that appears across generations and seems to continue from one generation to another.
Such patterns may manifest through:
- Repeated marital problems.
- Repeated rejection.
- Repeated failure.
- Repeated stagnation.
- Repeated financial hardship.
- Repeated addiction.
- Repeated family conflict.
- Repeated destructive relationships.
- Repeated disappointment.
- Repeated failure at the edge of success.
- Repeated academic difficulties.
- Repeated business collapse.
- Repeated cycles of poverty.
- Repeated affliction.
- Repeated patterns of premature loss.
- Repeated instability.
- Repeated abandonment.
- Repeated destructive behaviours.
Not every repeated family characteristic is necessarily demonic.
Some patterns may be learned behaviours, environmental influences, family culture, socioeconomic circumstances, or ordinary human weaknesses passed from one generation to another.
But whatever the source, anything contrary to God's purpose must be confronted through faith, prayer, wisdom, obedience, and godly action.
WHY MUST EVIL FAMILY PATTERNS BE BROKEN?
A negative pattern becomes dangerous when people begin to believe:
“This is simply how our family is.”
That mindset can become a prison.
If everyone in the family has experienced a particular problem, it does not mean you must experience it.
If previous generations experienced failure, you can pursue excellence.
If previous generations experienced destructive relationships, you can build healthy relationships.
If previous generations experienced bondage, you can walk in freedom.
The Bible says:
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36
Jesus Christ is greater than every negative history.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF FAMILY PATTERNS
1. Abraham and Isaac
Abraham and Isaac experienced strikingly similar circumstances concerning their wives.
Genesis 12:10–15 and Genesis 26:6–9 show the repeated pattern.
This reminds us that behaviours and circumstances can sometimes repeat across generations.
2. Abraham, Sarah, and Rebekah
Sarah experienced barrenness.
Rebekah also experienced barrenness.
But Isaac prayed, and God answered.
“And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife...” — Genesis 25:21
The pattern did not continue forever.
3. Jacob's Family
Jacob's family experienced deception, rivalry, jealousy, conflict, and serious family dysfunction.
Yet God continued working through that family and eventually transformed their history.
4. Jesus Breaks Bondage
Jesus declared:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me... he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives.” — Luke 4:18
This is our hope.
The family pattern may be old, but Jesus is older than the problem.
HOW EVIL FAMILY PATTERNS CAN MANIFEST
A negative family cycle may appear in different areas.
Marriage
Repeated marital delay, separation, destructive relationships, or repeated unhealthy choices.
Finances
Repeated financial instability, debt, business failure, or inability to retain legitimate income.
Education and Career
Repeated academic failure, career instability, missed opportunities, or inability to fulfil potential.
Health and Affliction
Repeated family struggles with particular conditions may require both prayer and appropriate professional attention.
Relationships
Repeated rejection, abandonment, betrayal, hostility, or destructive relationship choices.
Behaviour
Repeated anger, addiction, violence, dishonesty, or other destructive behaviours.
Spiritual Life
Repeated resistance to prayer, biblical obedience, or spiritual growth.
The answer is not fear.
The answer is Christ, prayer, wisdom, obedience, and decisive action.
WHAT KEEPS NEGATIVE PATTERNS IN PLACE?
Some patterns continue because people continue repeating the same behaviours.
Others may be reinforced by:
- Ungodly beliefs.
- Destructive family traditions.
- Unforgiveness.
- Sinful habits.
- Occult involvement.
- Ungodly relationships.
- Negative words and self-curses.
- Fear.
- Generational trauma.
- Learned behaviours.
- Ungodly covenants and dedications.
- Evil spiritual influences.
- Refusal to change.
- Repeated disobedience.
- Lack of knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 says:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
Therefore, spiritual warfare must be combined with spiritual understanding.
JESUS CHRIST IS GREATER THAN YOUR FAMILY HISTORY
You may have inherited a difficult history, but you do not have to inherit its final outcome.
Your family history is not greater than the blood of Jesus.
Your foundation is not greater than the power of God.
Your past is not greater than the future God has prepared for you.
The Bible says:
“For he hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” — Colossians 1:13
You can begin a new chapter.
You can become the person who breaks a negative cycle.
You can become the person whose children experience something better.
You can become the person through whom a new godly pattern begins.
SEVEN-DAY PRAYER INSTRUCTION
For those who desire to dedicate a focused period to these prayers, pray through these prayers consecutively for seven days.
If fasting is medically and personally appropriate for you, you may combine the prayers with fasting.
Do not fast in a way that puts your health at risk.
For each of the seven days, pray with:
- Psalm 114
- Psalm 27
- Psalm 121
Read the passages slowly and pray them back to God.
You may also meditate on:
- Galatians 3:13
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Isaiah 10:27
- Luke 4:18

Pray with desperation, faith, zeal, and understanding.
If you observe a negative pattern in your family line, do not simply accept it as your destiny.
Take it to God in prayer.
PREPARING YOUR HEART FOR FAMILY DELIVERANCE PRAYERS
Before beginning these prayers:
- Give your life completely to Jesus Christ.
- Confess known sins and ask God for mercy.
- Renounce occult practices and ungodly spiritual involvement.
- Forgive those who have wronged you.

- Ask God to reveal patterns that need to be broken.
- Believe God's Word concerning your freedom.
- Pray consistently.
- Combine prayer with practical obedience.
- Do not allow fear to control you.

- Holy Ghost, set me on fire and make me too spiritually strong for every evil pattern to overcome me, in the name of Jesus.
- My life, begin to manifest the divine pattern of God, in the name of Jesus.
- Father, release me into my long-awaited testimony that has been hindered by negative family patterns, in the name of Jesus.
- Every power that wants to renew a negative family covenant upon my life, fail completely, in the name of Jesus.
