 SERMON TITLE: WHEN MEN SLEPT

Main Text: Matthew 13:25

 INTRODUCTION

Life is spiritual, whether people realize it or not.

Many battles people face today did not start today, they began when they were spiritually asleep.

Jesus revealed a mystery: the enemy operates in unnoticed moments.

Key Statement:

“What you ignore spiritually, the enemy will exploit.”

POINT 1: THE REAL MEANING OF “SLEEP”

Sleep is not physical, it is spiritual negligence.

Scripture: Matthew 26:40 – Jesus found the disciples sleeping instead of praying.

What spiritual sleep looks like:

No prayer life

Inconsistency with God

Lack of sensitivity to sin

Carelessness in spiritual matters

 Illustration: A security guard who sleeps on duty doesn’t stop thieves, he invites them.

 In the same way, when a believer “sleeps,” spiritual thieves operate freely.

 POINT 2: THE STRATEGY OF THE ENEMY

“His enemy came.  The attack is intentional.

The enemy studies:

Your weak moments

Your prayer gaps

Your spiritual patterns

 Illustration: A farmer plants good seed, but at night, an enemy secretly plants weeds.

Both grow together, but one is destructive.

Not everything growing in your life was planted by God.

POINT 3: UNDERSTANDING THE “TARES”

Tares look like wheat, but they are counterfeit.

What tares represent:

Fake opportunities

Wrong relationships

Hidden sins

Delayed blessings

Spiritual contamination

 Illustration: Artificial flowers look beautiful but have no life. They cannot grow, reproduce, or sustain anything. The enemy specializes in what looks right but is wrong.

POINT 4: SIGNS OF SATANIC PLANTATION

Sudden confusion

Unexplainable delays

Repeated negative cycles

Strange losses or setbacks

Spiritual dryness

 Illustration: If a clean water tank suddenly becomes dirty, something was introduced into it. Many problems are not natural, they are introduced spiritually.

POINT 5: THE CALL TO SPIRITUAL ALERTNESS

1 Peter 5:8

“Be sober, be vigilant…”

God expects believers to stay:

Awake

Sensitive

Watchful

 Illustration: A soldier in a war zone does not sleep carelessly. If he does, he may not wake up. Christianity is not a playground, it is a battleground.

 POINT 6: HOW TO FIGHT BACK

1. Wake Up Spiritually

Restore your prayer life

Build consistency

2. Engage in Aggressive Prayer

Especially at strategic times (early morning / night)

3. Uproot Every Evil Seed

Pray intentionally, not casually.

4. Guard Your Life Going Forward

Be spiritually disciplined

Stay connected to God

 Illustration: If weeds are not removed early, they will compete with crops and reduce harvest. Delay in spiritual action increases damage.

CONCLUSION;

Some of you are not under attack because of sin, but because of silence in prayer. The enemy is real, but so is your authority

Sleep is dangerous, but awakening brings victory. Stay awake, your destiny depends on it.

Father, I thank You for the gift of life and salvation, in the name of Jesus

I thank You, Lord, because no weapon formed against me shall prosper in the name of Jesus

Father, I thank You for fighting my unseen battles for me in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, arise and let every enemy of my destiny be scattered by fire in the name of Jesus.

SECTION 2: CONFESSION & CLEANSING 

Father, have mercy on me for every spiritual carelessness in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, forgive me for every moment of prayerlessness.in the name of Jesus.

Any door I opened to the enemy through sin,be closed now by the blood of Jesus.

I cleanse myself with the blood of Jesus from every defilement in the name of Jesus 

Holy Spirit, revive my spiritual life now in the name of Jesus.

SECTION 3: UPROOTING EVIL SEEDS 

Every evil seed planted in my life while I slept die by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every satanic plantation in my destiny be uprooted now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Anything growing in my life that God did not plant be uprooted now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Evil seeds of sickness come out of my life and die in the name of Jesus.

Evil seeds of poverty, die in the name of Jesus

Evil seeds of delay be destroyed now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every hidden evil deposit in my body catch fire in the name of Jesus.

Roots of affliction in my life dry up now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every inherited evil seed be destroyed now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of failure at the edge of my breakthrough die in the name of Jesus.

Every evil seed working against my progress scatter by fire in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of confusion in my life be uprooted now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every demonic investment in my destiny be wasted by fire in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of backwardness die by fire in the name of Jesus

Anything planted in my life in the dream be destroyed by fire in the name of Jesus.

SECTION 4: DESTROYING NIGHT ATTACKS 

Every power attacking me in the night scatter by fire in the name of Jesus.

Arrows fired into my life while I slept backfire in the name of Jesus.

Every satanic operation carried out in my sleep be reversed in the name of Jesus.

Powers of darkness visiting me in dreams die by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every evil covenant activated at night break now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every nocturnal attack be nullified in the name of Jesus.

Evil hands working against me in the night wither by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every evil mark placed on me in the dream be erased by fire in the name of Jesus.

Night battles assigned against me fail now in the name of Jesus

I cancel every evil transaction done against my life at night in the name of Jesus

 SECTION 5: RECOVERY & RESTORATION 

I recover everything stolen from me while I slept in the name of Jesus

My lost glory be restored by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every blessing diverted from me return now by fire in the name of Jesus.

I reclaim my destiny from the hands of the enemy by fire in the name of Jesus.

My opportunities be restored now by fire in the name of Jesus.

Every good thing buried in my life come alive now in the name of Jesus.

I command restoration of wasted years by fire in the name of Jesus.

My star arise and shine again in the name of Jesus.

Every power sitting on my destiny be unseated by fire in the name of Jesus.

I possess my possessions in the name of Jesus!

SECTION 6: SPIRITUAL ALERTNESS & FIRE 

My spiritual life receive fresh fire in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, make me spiritually alert at all times in the name of Jesus.

Holy Spirit, sharpen my discernment in the name of Jesus.

I refuse to sleep spiritually again in the name of Jesus.

From today, I walk in victory, power, and dominion in the name of Jesus

Every evil seed planted in my life be uprooted now by fire in the name of Jesus

Anything growing in my life that God did not plant die by fire in the name of Jesus
