KEY SCRIPTURE
Isaiah 43:19–20
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.”
This is a powerful Scripture for anyone trusting God for a new season.
Where there has been delay, God can bring forth something new.
Where there has been stagnation, God can make a way.
Where there appears to be no possibility, God can create a pathway.
Isaiah 43:19 says:
“Behold, I will do a new thing…”
Therefore, do not allow your present situation to convince you that your marital story cannot change.
God is able to turn your story around.
INTRODUCTION
Marriage is one of the areas where many people experience prolonged waiting, disappointment and frustration.
Some desire marriage but cannot find the right person.
Some enter relationships that repeatedly collapse.
Some experience repeated rejection.
Some are engaged but encounter unusual obstacles.
Some experience repeated disappointment just when marriage appears close.
Others see people around them getting married while they continue waiting year after year.
This can become emotionally painful.
However, delay does not mean denial.
Your present situation does not have the final word.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says:
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time…”
God has a purpose and timing for every season.
At the same time, believers should pray, seek wisdom, examine their lives and remain open to God's direction.
These prayers are written in an intense warfare and deliverance style for those who are trusting God for marital breakthrough and freedom from every obstacle standing against their marriage.
WHAT IS MARITAL DELAY?
Marital delay refers to a prolonged or frustrating season in which a person desires marriage but repeatedly encounters obstacles, disappointments or circumstances that prevent marriage from taking place.
It may manifest through:
- Repeatedly broken relationships.
- Persistent rejection.
- Wrong relationships.
- Repeated disappointment.
- Engagements that continually collapse.
- Fear of marriage.
- Difficulty finding a compatible spouse.
- Repeated relationship conflicts.
- Family interference.
- Foundational patterns.
- Unhealthy emotional attachments.
- Sexual or ungodly soul ties.
- Spiritual and personal battles.
- Repeated missed opportunities.
However, not every delay is necessarily caused by a spiritual power.
Sometimes wisdom, healing, character development, poor choices, incompatible relationships or circumstances are involved.
That is why we pray for both deliverance and divine wisdom.
GOD CAN CHANGE YOUR MARITAL STORY
God specializes in making a way where there appears to be no way.
Isaiah 43:19 says:
“I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
The God who made a way through the Red Sea can make a way through marital obstacles.
Exodus 14:21 records how God divided the Red Sea so that Israel could pass through.
Therefore, whatever looks like a Red Sea before your marriage, take it before God.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GOD'S TIMING
REBEKAH
Rebekah became Isaac's wife through divine direction.
Genesis 24:27 says:
“I being in the way, the LORD led me…”
This reminds us of the importance of divine direction.
RUTH
Ruth's story moved from widowhood and uncertainty into a new family and marriage with Boaz.
Ruth 2:12 speaks of her coming under the wings of the Lord.
God can change circumstances in unexpected ways.
SARAH
Sarah experienced a long waiting period before Isaac was born.
Yet God fulfilled His promise.
Genesis 21:1 says:
“And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said…”
The waiting period did not cancel God's promise.
THINGS TO DO WHILE WAITING FOR MARRIAGE
1. Keep Your Relationship With God Strong
Do not allow the desire for marriage to replace your relationship with God.
2. Pray for Divine Direction
Ask God to guide you toward the right person and away from the wrong person.
3. Deal With Unhealthy Relationships
Do not remain attached to relationships that continually destroy your peace, faith and destiny.
4. Examine Yourself
Ask God to reveal anything in your character, choices or behaviour that needs correction.
5. Avoid Desperation
Desperation can make people accept relationships that God never ordained for them.
6. Seek Godly Counsel
Proverbs 11:14 says:
“In the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”
7. Continue Praying
Do not allow disappointment to silence your prayer life.

Thank God for your life and for what He will do in this programme.

Confess every known and unknown sin and ask God for mercy.
Where you have personally participated in anything contrary to God's Word, repent and renounce it.

Spend quality time praising and worshipping God.
D. READ THE WORD
Read Scriptures concerning marriage, restoration, divine favour and God's faithfulness.
E. PRAY WITH FAITH
Mark 11:24 says:
