PRAYERS FOR VENGEANCE: CONTEND WITH THEM THAT CONTEND AGAINST ME
Bible Passage — James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Divine vengeance is not about taking personal revenge. It is about committing the battle into the hands of God and asking Him to judge wickedness, destroy evil works and defend His people.
When you are surrounded by battles that you cannot resolve by human strength, you can call upon God to arise and fight for you.
Exodus 14:14 says:
“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
There are battles that require divine intervention.
There are situations where God Himself must arise.
There are evil works that must be destroyed.
There are satanic assignments that must be terminated.
There are prolonged battles that must expire.
As you pray these prayers, place your confidence in God and His power.
CONFESSION — PSALM 35
Psalm 35
1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.
7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
10 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.
15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.
19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
22 This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.
23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
WHAT IS DIVINE VENGEANCE?
Divine vengeance means allowing God to take up your cause and execute righteous judgment against wickedness.
Romans 12:19 says:
“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
This means that you do not have to become consumed with personal revenge. You can bring the matter before God and ask Him to intervene.
When wickedness rises against you, ask God to:
- expose hidden evil;
- destroy satanic assignments;
- break evil strongholds;
- terminate prolonged battles;
- frustrate evil plans;
- defend your destiny;
- restore what has been stolen;
- open doors that opposition has closed;
- give you victory and peace.
Psalm 94:1 says:
“O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.”
WHEN YOU NEED GOD TO ARISE
There are times when you have prayed, waited and endured, yet the same battle continues.
You may experience:
- repeated problems;
- prolonged delay;
- opposition to your progress;
- false accusations;
- evil pronouncements;
- satanic attacks;
- household battles;
- foundational struggles;
- financial limitations;
- closed doors;
- repeated disappointment;
- attacks against your destiny.
At such times, cry to God.
Psalm 68:1 says:
“Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered...”
Your confidence must be in the Lord.
GOD CAN FIGHT YOUR BATTLES
1. God Fought for Israel
When Pharaoh refused to release Israel, God arose.
Exodus 14:25 says:
“The Lord troubled the host of the Egyptians.”
God demonstrated that He could fight for His people.
2. God Fought for Jehoshaphat
Jehoshaphat faced a great multitude.
But 2 Chronicles 20:15 says:
“The battle is not yours, but God's.”
God gave them victory.
3. God Defended David
David repeatedly faced enemies who wanted to destroy him.
Yet David continually returned to God as his refuge and defender.
Psalm 18:3 says:
“I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”
HOW TO PRAY FOR DIVINE VENGEANCE
1. Submit yourself to God
James 4:7 begins with:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God.”
Victory begins with surrender to God.
2. Resist the devil
Do not surrender to fear.
Stand on the Word of God.
3. Ask God to fight your battles
Exodus 14:14 reminds us that God can fight for His people.
4. Pray persistently
Luke 18:1 teaches that we ought always to pray and not faint.
5. Trust God's judgment
Romans 12:19 says:
“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

- O Lord, vindicate me and let those who rejoice over my distress see Your mighty hand in my life in the name of Jesus.
- Father, restore everything that the enemy has taken from my life and establish me in victory in the name of Jesus.

FAITH CONFESSION
The Lord is my light and my salvation; I shall not fear.
The Lord is the strength of my life.
God is my defender.
God is fighting my battles.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper.
Every evil assignment against my destiny shall fail.
Every satanic embargo against my progress shall break.
Every prolonged battle shall expire.
Every evil pronouncement against me shall be cancelled.
My blessings shall not be diverted.
My doors shall open.
My heavens shall open.
My testimony shall manifest.
The Lord shall restore what I have lost.
I shall not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord.
I am more than a conqueror through Christ.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
I decree that the Lord shall arise and fight every battle fighting against you.
