PRAYERS TO BREAK EVIL COVENANT IN YOUR FOUNDATION
BREAKING EVIL COVENANT IN YOUR FOUNDATION
Key Scriptures
Psalm 2; Psalm 30
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?” — Psalm 2:1
“O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.” — Psalm 30:2
Introduction
Foundations matter.
A person's family history, upbringing, previous agreements, ungodly dedications, idolatrous practices, occult involvement and other spiritual influences may become matters that they want to renounce and bring before God in prayer.
But the good news is that Jesus Christ is greater than every evil covenant, every curse, every satanic claim and every power of darkness.
The Bible says:
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.” — Galatians 3:13
These prayers are warfare prayers for anyone seeking God's intervention against every evil covenant, ungodly agreement, family altar, witchcraft operation and foundational bondage affecting their life.
Pray with faith in Jesus Christ. Do not put your confidence in fear, but in the finished work of Christ.
What Is an Evil Covenant?
A covenant is an agreement or binding relationship. In Scripture, covenants can be holy and established by God, but people can also enter into ungodly agreements and practices involving idols and false worship.
An evil covenant in the context of these prayers refers to any ungodly spiritual agreement, dedication, oath, initiation, idol worship or occult practice that a person wants to renounce and break away from through faith in Christ.
This may include matters associated with:
- Idolatry and false worship
- Occult practices
- Witchcraft
- Ungodly family altars
- Evil dedications
- Occultic initiations
- Ancestral practices contrary to God's Word
- Demonic agreements and spiritual bondage
The answer is not fear. The answer is to turn to God, repent of one's own sins, renounce ungodly practices and stand upon the redemption provided through Jesus Christ.
Biblical Foundation for Breaking Evil Covenants
The Bible gives believers confidence in the power of Christ.
Galatians 3:13 says:
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.”
Colossians 2:14-15 teaches that Christ dealt with the record that stood against us and triumphed over spiritual powers.
Isaiah 54:17 declares:
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”
Luke 10:19 speaks of the authority Christ gives His followers over the power of the enemy.
Therefore, these prayers should be prayed from a position of faith in God rather than fear of darkness.
Biblical Examples of Deliverance and Divine Intervention
1. Israel and Pharaoh
Israel was under severe oppression in Egypt, but God intervened and brought His people out with a mighty hand.
Their deliverance demonstrates that no oppressive power is greater than God's power.
2. Gideon's Family
In Judges 6, Gideon was instructed to tear down his father's altar to Baal and deal with the idolatrous structure around his family.
This shows the importance of confronting idolatry and turning completely toward God.
3. The People of Ephesus
In Acts 19, people who had practiced occultic arts turned away from those practices after encountering the power of the Gospel.
Their response demonstrates the importance of renouncing former practices and embracing Christ.
4. Jesus Christ
The ultimate foundation of our deliverance is Jesus Christ.
He is the One through whom we receive redemption, forgiveness and freedom.
Before You Begin These Prayers
A. Thank God for your life and for what He will do through these prayers.
Begin with thanksgiving. Thank God for preserving your life, for His mercy and for the victory available through Jesus Christ.
B. Confess your known and unknown sins and ask God for mercy.
Confess your sins before God, repent sincerely and ask for forgiveness. Where you have participated personally in practices contrary to God's Word, renounce them and turn away from them.
Regarding ancestral matters, do not assume personal guilt for sins committed by ancestors. Instead, ask God for mercy over your family history and deliberately reject every ungodly practice that is contrary to Christ.
C. Quality Praise and Worship
Spend time praising and worshipping God before beginning the warfare prayers.
Praise shifts your attention from the power of the problem to the greatness of God.
