Introduction
Do you know that when you pray according to God's Word and bring the right matters before Him, you can receive divine intervention in the situations confronting your life?
Jesus said:
“Ask, and it shall be given you.” — Matthew 7:7
Prayer is not merely telling God about your needs, because your heavenly Father already knows what you need. Prayer is also an opportunity to seek God's intervention, direction, mercy, strength and deliverance according to His Word.
The enemy is real, and spiritual warfare is real. But the power of God is greater than every power of darkness.
The Bible says:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” — Ephesians 6:12
Therefore, we must not approach spiritual battles with natural weapons. We must stand upon the Word of God, prayer, faith and the authority we have through Jesus Christ.
Prayer Provokes Help From Above
Hebrews 4:16 says:
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Prayer is one of the ways we seek God's help in the battles of life.
When the enemy raises accusations, attacks, obstacles, evil plans or resistance against a person, we can bring the matter before God and ask Him to intervene.
God is our Helper.
When God rises on behalf of His people, the counsel of the enemy can be frustrated.
Job 5:12 says:
“He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.”
This is the kind of divine intervention we are asking God for in these prayers.
When Evil Plans Are Turned Against the Enemy
Scripture contains examples of situations where the plans of the wicked were overturned.
In Esther 9:1, the situation was dramatically reversed. Those who expected to overpower God's people encountered a reversal of circumstances.
Nehemiah 4:15 also records that God brought the counsel of the enemies of His people to nothing.
This is why we can pray:
“O God of Elijah, arise by fire and disappoint the adversaries of my destiny.”
We are not trusting in human strength. We are asking God to frustrate every plan that is contrary to His purpose for our lives.
Do Not Fight Spiritual Battles With Natural Weapons
There are battles that cannot be solved merely by human strength, argument or retaliation.
Ephesians 6:13 says:
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day.”
Prayer is indispensable in spiritual warfare.
When you are facing prolonged hardship, repeated disappointment, strange opposition, unexplained obstacles or persistent attacks, take the matter to God in prayer.
Do not allow fear to control you.
Do not surrender your faith.
Do not conclude that the enemy has the final word.
Jesus Christ has authority over the powers of darkness, and believers are called to stand firm in Him.
When the Enemy's Plan Is Reversed
The enemy may prepare a trap, but God can turn the trap against the plan of the wicked.
The enemy may prepare shame, but God can bring glory.
The enemy may prepare delay, but God can bring divine acceleration.
The enemy may prepare sorrow, but God can bring restoration.
The enemy may prepare a closed door, but God can open a way.
The enemy may prepare a battle, but God can give His people victory.
This is why Psalm 124:7 says:
“Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.”
Your present battle does not have to determine your final testimony.
Before You Begin These Warfare Prayers
A. Thank God for your life
Thank God for preserving your life and for every victory He has already given you.
Thank Him for the battles He has fought that you know about and the ones you do not know about.
B. Confess your sins and ask for mercy
Confess your known and unknown sins before God and ask for mercy.
Where you have personally participated in anything contrary to God's Word, repent and turn away from it.
