Introduction
God is the God of increase.
The Bible contains many examples of people whose stories changed when God intervened in their lives. Jabez is one of the clearest examples.
Jabez was born into pain, and even his name reflected the circumstances surrounding his birth. Yet he did not allow his beginning to determine his future.
He called upon the God of Israel:
“Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast...” — 1 Chronicles 4:10
The Bible records that God granted him what he requested.
Divine enlargement is not limited to money. God can enlarge a person's influence, wisdom, knowledge, capacity, opportunities, family, ministry, career, business, relationships and ability to fulfil divine purpose.
These prayers are designed to help you seek God for increase while also confronting every spiritual resistance that you believe is working against your progress.
What Is Divine Enlargement?
Divine enlargement means experiencing God-given growth, expansion, increase and greater capacity according to His purpose.
It can include:
- Spiritual growth
- Increase in wisdom
- Increase in knowledge
- Increase in grace
- Increase in favour
- Financial increase
- Business growth
- Career advancement
- Family increase
- Marital progress
- Greater opportunities
- Greater capacity
- Increase in influence
- Expansion of ministry
- Greater fruitfulness
True enlargement should bring glory to God and should be accompanied by wisdom, responsibility and obedience.
The Prayer of Jabez
Jabez understood that his circumstances did not have to determine his future.
He asked God for four important things:
Blessing — “Bless me indeed.”
Enlargement — “Enlarge my coast.”
Divine presence — “Let Your hand be with me.”
Protection — “Keep me from evil.”
And Scripture says:
“And God granted him that which he requested.”
This teaches us that we can bring our desires before God while trusting His wisdom and purpose.
Biblical Examples of Divine Increase
Isaac
Genesis 26:12 says Isaac sowed in the land and received a hundredfold in the same year.
God's blessing caused him to become increasingly prosperous.
Jabez
Jabez prayed for enlargement, and God granted his request.
Joseph
Joseph moved from a place of severe limitation into a position of great influence in Egypt.
David
David moved from the pasture to the palace according to God's purpose for his life.

Increase is therefore not merely material. It can involve the whole person.
