DISMORTGAGING YOUR LIFE FROM EVIL POWERS: 50 POWERFUL WARFARE PRAYERS WITH BIBLE VERSES
DISMORTGAGING YOUR LIFE FROM EVIL POWERS: 50 POWERFUL WARFARE PRAYERS WITH BIBLE VERSES
Key Scripture
Matthew 11:12 (KJV)
“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”
Colossians 1:13–14 (KJV)
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
Introduction: I Will Not Pay for What I Did Not Buy!
There are battles in life that require persistent prayer, spiritual understanding, repentance, and a firm stand on the Word of God. In this deliverance teaching, we will examine the concept of mortgaging one's life to evil powers and how believers can pray for freedom from evil covenants, ancestral bondage, ungodly dedications, curses, manipulation, and every form of spiritual oppression.
The central declarations of this message are:
“I will not pay for what I did not buy, in the name of Jesus!”
“My life is not for sale, in the mighty name of Jesus!”
These are declarations of faith against bondage, oppression, and every burden that contradicts the freedom Christ offers. Pray them with conviction, understanding, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
Our warfare is spiritual. We do not fight against human beings, our families, or our communities. We stand against evil, sin, deception, oppression, and everything that seeks to separate us from God's will.
My Personal Testimony: My Life Is Not for Sale!
Some years ago, I had just moved into a new neighbourhood in Lagos, Nigeria. One night, while I was sleeping, I suddenly woke up and found myself praying these words aloud:
“My life is not for sale, in the name of Jesus!”
I prayed on my bed and tried to return to sleep. About thirty minutes later, I woke up again with another declaration:
“My house is not for sale, in the name of Jesus!”
At that point, I became alert and felt compelled to rise and engage in warfare prayer using these two declarations.
At the time, I did not understand why those words had come so forcefully to me. I later became concerned about the spiritual dangers I associated with the neighbourhood and believed that the prayers had been an important warning to take my spiritual life seriously.
The very next day, a two-year-old child who was playing in front of my house was struck by a reversing car and died at the scene. The incident was deeply disturbing. Although I connected the events in my mind at the time, I cannot establish that the accident was caused by witchcraft or that my prayers had revealed its cause.
What I want to emphasize through this testimony is the importance of prayer, spiritual vigilance, and the protection of our households. We must not live carelessly or in fear. We must commit our lives and families into God's hands and take practical steps to protect those entrusted to our care.
Pray these declarations with faith:
- My life is not for sale, in the name of Jesus!
- My household belongs to Jesus Christ, in the name of Jesus!
- I will not pay for what I did not buy, in the mighty name of Jesus!
- By the power of the blood of Jesus, I renounce every evil covenant and allegiance contrary to my faith in Christ, in the name of Jesus!
What Does It Mean to Mortgage a Person's Life?
A mortgage is an arrangement in which property is pledged as security for a debt. In this deliverance teaching, mortgaging a life is used as a spiritual metaphor for being bound, controlled, or burdened by evil covenants, ungodly dedications, inherited patterns, or oppressive spiritual influences.
The expression describes several situations that believers may bring before God in prayer.
- Allegiance to evil powers: In some spiritual traditions, this is understood as a person's life being dedicated to idols, occult practices, or other powers contrary to the worship of God.
- An alleged spiritual dowry: This describes the belief that a person or family has been placed under an ungodly spiritual claim or obligation.
- Pharaoh-like bondage: Like the Israelites under Pharaoh, a person may feel trapped in a cycle of labour, hardship, and little reward.
- Control and manipulation: This can refer to coercion, abuse, destructive relationships, sinful habits, or spiritual fears that undermine a person's freedom.
- Oppression and stagnation: A person may work hard yet repeatedly struggle to make progress.
- Labouring without enjoying the fruit: This describes the painful experience of investing time and effort without seeing the expected results.
- Paying for another person's decisions: Children can suffer the consequences of harmful decisions made by parents or earlier generations, including family conflict, financial burdens, abuse, and destructive patterns.
The Bible teaches that sin and injustice can have consequences across generations, but it also calls individuals to personal responsibility and offers hope for a new beginning in Christ. Not every hardship is evidence of a spiritual mortgage, and not every family difficulty is the result of an ancestral covenant.
Ezekiel 18:20 (KJV) says:
“The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son.”
We can acknowledge the effects of past generations without concluding that a person is spiritually owned by an evil power. Through Christ, believers can seek forgiveness, healing, wisdom, and freedom.
How Can a Person's Life Become Spiritually Bound?
The following are areas that this teaching invites believers to examine prayerfully. They should not be treated as proof that a demon or an invisible covenant is responsible for every problem.
1. Idolatry and the Worship of Other Powers
Throughout the Old Testament, God warned His people against idolatry and the worship of other gods. Scripture repeatedly calls believers to worship the Lord alone.
Practices involving the worship of idols, consulting spiritual mediums, seeking occult power, or participating in rituals that conflict with Christian faith may lead people away from their commitment to Christ.
Exodus 20:3 (KJV) says:
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
If you have participated in practices that contradict your faith, you can repent, renounce those practices, and seek spiritual guidance from a mature, trustworthy Christian minister.
Do not conclude that seeing unusual images in a dream automatically proves that you are under an evil covenant. Dreams can have many explanations and should be approached with wisdom rather than fear.
2. Evil Dedication and Ungodly Allegiance
Some people are dedicated to religious or spiritual practices by their families before they are old enough to understand what is happening. Others participate in rituals themselves and later decide to follow Jesus Christ.
A Christian who regrets a former dedication can renounce any allegiance contrary to Christ and reaffirm their faith in Him.
1 Corinthians 10:21 (KJV) says:
“Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.”
The answer is not to live in constant terror of former rituals. It is to turn to Christ, grow in the Word, and receive appropriate pastoral support.
3. Evil Covenants and Ungodly Agreements
A covenant is an agreement or binding commitment. Scripture records covenants made between individuals, nations, and God.
In Joshua 9:21–27, the Gibeonites became subject to Israelite service after Joshua and the leaders made an agreement with them. The passage demonstrates the lasting consequences of a decision made by leaders.
In modern life, harmful agreements can include involvement in occult practices, exploitative arrangements, criminal activities, or relationships that demand destructive sacrifices.
If you have entered into an ungodly agreement, repent of wrongdoing, discontinue the harmful practice, and seek God's help to walk in truth and righteousness.
Colossians 2:14–15 (KJV) speaks of Christ:
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.”
The Christian hope is that Christ's saving work is greater than the sins and failures of the past.
4. Unbroken Curses and Harmful Family Patterns
The Bible records serious consequences associated with sin, injustice, and disobedience. Examples include the warning concerning Eli's household in 1 Samuel 2:30–36, the judgment involving Gehazi in 2 Kings 5:20–27, and Joshua's pronouncement concerning Jericho in Joshua 6:26.
These accounts should be understood within their biblical contexts rather than used to conclude that every descendant of a person who sinned must suffer a supernatural curse.
Harmful patterns can pass from one generation to another through learned behaviour, unresolved conflict, poverty, abuse, addiction, and family expectations. Such patterns can be confronted through repentance where appropriate, wise decisions, practical support, and prayer.
Galatians 3:13–14 (KJV) declares:
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.”
Bring every fear about ancestral bondage before God. Ask Him for freedom from destructive patterns and grace to establish a different legacy.
5. Ignorance of God's Word and Your Identity in Christ
Many people remain trapped in fear because they do not know what Scripture teaches about forgiveness, redemption, and life in Christ.
Hosea 4:6 (KJV) says:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
The Bible calls believers to understand their identity in Christ, grow in spiritual maturity, and live according to God's Word.
Obadiah 1:17 (KJV) says:
“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”
Learn the Word of God. Refuse to let fear, false teaching, or intimidation determine your understanding of your future.
6. Negligence and Carelessness
The Bible warns about the little foxes that spoil the vines.
Song of Solomon 2:15 (KJV) says:
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.”
We must be vigilant about our choices, relationships, habits, speech, and spiritual life. Believers are called to exercise self-control, seek wisdom, and pray before making important decisions.
Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) says:
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Spiritual vigilance does not mean living in suspicion of everyone. It means standing firm in faith, avoiding destructive practices, and making wise decisions.
The Way Forward: How to Seek Freedom in Christ
If you believe your past or present involvement in harmful spiritual practices is troubling your conscience, take these steps prayerfully.
- Repent of your personal sins. Confess your wrongdoing to God and turn away from it. Do not take responsibility for sins you did not commit.
- Commit your life to Jesus Christ. Trust in His saving work and seek to grow in obedience, faith, and fellowship with Him.
- Renounce ungodly practices and allegiances. Where you have participated in practices contrary to your faith, turn away from them and seek appropriate pastoral guidance.
- Pray for wisdom and understanding. Ask God to help you identify practical causes of recurring difficulties and show you what steps to take.
- Reject destructive family patterns. Through prayer, wise boundaries, accountability, and practical action, work toward a healthier future.
- Make restitution where necessary and appropriate. Where you have harmed another person, seek to make things right safely and responsibly.
- Stand on the redemption found in Christ. Colossians 1:14 teaches that in Christ we have redemption through His blood and forgiveness of sins.
- Seek trustworthy support. Choose a responsible Christian minister who respects your dignity and safety. Do not submit to threats, coercion, harmful rituals, or demands for money in exchange for deliverance.
- Take practical action. Address financial problems, abusive relationships, health concerns, and other challenges through suitable professional or community support alongside prayer.
Preparing Your Heart Before the Warfare Prayers
Before you begin, take a moment to settle your heart before God.
- Confess your faith in Jesus Christ.
- Repent of any personal wrongdoing that the Holy Spirit brings to your attention.
- Renounce any occult practice or ungodly allegiance in which you knowingly participated.
- Forgive where you are able, while maintaining appropriate boundaries against abuse.
- Read Colossians 1:13–14, Galatians 3:13–14, and James 4:7.
- Pray with faith, not panic. You do not have to identify an invisible enemy or discover a hidden covenant before you can ask God for help.
Now, pray these points with spiritual intensity and determination.
