Introduction

One of the most painful experiences is to come very close to receiving something good and then watch it suddenly collapse.

A job may appear secured, only for the final decision to change.

A business agreement may seem completed, only for the other party to withdraw.

A travel plan may be ready, only for an unexpected obstacle to arise.

An admission, promotion, financial opportunity, relationship, contract or important arrangement may appear almost certain and then fail at the final stage.

Last-minute disappointment can be especially painful because the heart has already begun to celebrate.

The Bible teaches us to trust God not only at the beginning of a matter but also through its completion. At the same time, not every disappointment is a spiritual attack. Some things fail because of ordinary circumstances, human decisions, inadequate preparation, changing conditions or because an opportunity was not right for us.

These prayers therefore ask God to preserve legitimate plans, expose hidden obstacles, grant favor, give wisdom and prevent unnecessary last-minute disappointment.

Where God closes a door for our protection, may He give us grace to accept His direction and lead us to the right door.

WHAT IS LAST-MINUTE DISAPPOINTMENT?

Last-minute disappointment occurs when something desirable appears close to completion but unexpectedly fails, changes, is cancelled, delayed or withdrawn near the final stage.

It can happen with:

• Business contracts
• Financial opportunities
• University admission
• Scholarships
• Travel plans
• Marriage and relationships
• Housing
• Career advancement
• Important appointments
• Projects
• Agreements
• Family plans
• Ministry opportunities

The repeated experience can produce fear: “Will it fail again just when I am about to receive it?”

These prayers are designed to confront that fear while asking God for wisdom and preservation.

WHY CAN LAST-MINUTE DISAPPOINTMENTS HAPPEN?

There can be many causes.

Sometimes people change their decisions.

Sometimes information was incomplete.

Sometimes preparation was inadequate.

Sometimes circumstances suddenly change.

Sometimes another person fails to keep a commitment.

Sometimes financial or logistical problems arise.

Sometimes we discover that an opportunity was not as good as it initially appeared.

And sometimes, from a Christian perspective, we may pray against genuine opposition to legitimate progress.

The important thing is not to assume that every disappointment is caused by an invisible enemy.

Pray, investigate, learn, prepare and take wise action.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES

1. Abraham and Isaac

Abraham reached the moment when he believed he had to offer Isaac, but God intervened and provided a ram.

What appeared to be an ending became a testimony of God's provision.

2. Joseph

Joseph experienced repeated setbacks before reaching the place God had prepared for him.

His imprisonment appeared to delay his future, but God was still working.

Genesis 50:20 shows that God could turn what was intended for harm into something that produced good.

3. Nehemiah

Nehemiah faced repeated opposition while rebuilding Jerusalem's walls.

Despite attempts to stop the work, the project was completed.

Nehemiah 6:15:
“So the wall was finished…”

4. Esther

Esther's intervention came at a critical moment when the lives of her people were threatened.

Through courage and divine providence, the situation was turned around.

5. Paul

Paul experienced numerous obstacles while carrying out his assignment, yet these difficulties did not ultimately cancel God's purpose for his ministry.

1. Father, preserve every legitimate thing You have started in my life and bring it to successful completion, in the name of Jesus.
