INTRODUCTION

Losing an important opportunity can be deeply painful.

You may have discovered an opportunity but failed to act in time. You may have been rejected. Someone else may have been chosen. A financial limitation may have prevented you from moving forward. A business opportunity may have disappeared. An admission, job, scholarship, relationship, promotion or travel opportunity may have passed.

Sometimes an opportunity is lost because of our own mistakes.

Sometimes circumstances beyond our control interfere.

Sometimes we make a decision with incomplete information.

And sometimes what appears to be a lost opportunity may actually be God redirecting us toward something better suited to His purpose.

Whatever the cause, God can restore hope, direction, confidence and opportunity.

Divine restoration does not always mean receiving the exact thing that was lost. God may reopen the original door, create another route, restore the opportunity in a different form, or provide a better opportunity altogether.

WHAT DOES DIVINE RESTORATION OF LOST OPPORTUNITIES MEAN?

Divine restoration of lost opportunities means asking God to intervene concerning opportunities that have already passed, disappeared, been rejected or become unavailable.

Restoration may involve:

• A missed business opportunity

1. David Recovered What Was Taken

In 1 Samuel 30, David and his men returned to discover that their families and possessions had been taken.

David sought God for direction.

God answered him, and David recovered what had been taken.

2. Peter Was Restored After Failure

Peter denied Jesus and experienced deep failure.

Yet Jesus did not allow Peter's failure to become the end of his calling.

Jesus restored him and entrusted him with responsibility.

This shows that God can restore purpose after a painful failure.

3. Naomi Received a New Beginning

Naomi experienced severe family loss and returned to Bethlehem feeling empty.

Yet God brought Ruth and Boaz into her story, and her family line became part of the lineage of David.

Her story shows that a painful chapter does not necessarily determine the final outcome.

4. Joseph's Delayed Opportunity

Joseph spent years experiencing circumstances that appeared to delay his destiny.

Yet when the right moment came, he was brought before Pharaoh.

What seemed like lost time became part of his preparation.

5. Mordecai Was Remembered

Mordecai's good deed had apparently gone unrewarded for a period.

Later, the king asked about his record and Mordecai received recognition.

Sometimes an opportunity or reward may appear forgotten but can still be brought back into consideration.
