Introduction
Rejection can be painful, especially when you do not understand why something you considered reasonable, suitable or promising was refused.
You may apply for a job and receive repeated rejection. You may submit an application and never receive an explanation. A business proposal may be declined despite careful preparation. An admission application may fail unexpectedly. A relationship may end without a clear explanation. An opportunity may repeatedly pass you by even when you appear qualified.
Sometimes rejection has an identifiable reason. Sometimes the reason is simply unknown to us.
Not every rejection is caused by spiritual opposition. People make decisions based on qualifications, timing, competition, preferences, policies, finances, circumstances and information we may never see. Sometimes God may also redirect us away from something that appears good toward something different.
Therefore, these prayers should not encourage fear or suspicion. They are prayers for God's favor, wisdom, discernment, healing, open doors and freedom from destructive patterns of repeated rejection.
Where rejection is caused by something practical, God can also give you wisdom to identify and correct it.
Biblical Examples of Rejection and God's Purpose
1. David Was Overlooked
When Samuel came to Jesse's house to anoint a king, David was not initially presented.

David was overlooked by people, but God had chosen him.
Human recognition did not determine God's purpose for his life.

Revelation 3:8 speaks of a door that God opens which no one can shut.
This means we should not allow rejection to become our identity.
A rejected application is not necessarily a rejected person.
