Introduction

Abandonment can leave wounds that are difficult to explain.

A person may have been abandoned by a parent, spouse, family member, friend or someone they trusted deeply. In other cases, abandonment may come through emotional neglect, repeated absence, separation or the sudden departure of someone important.

The physical separation may happen once, but the emotional wound can continue for years.

Hebrews 13:5 says:
