INTRODUCTION

Divine visitation is a powerful theme throughout the Bible. When God visits an individual, a family or a nation, He can bring deliverance, restoration, healing, provision, direction and a new beginning.

The Bible records how God remembered the Israelites in their suffering in Egypt and intervened on their behalf. He heard their cries and began the process of bringing them out of bondage.

Exodus 3:7–8 says:

“I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry... For I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them.”

When God visited Sarah, He fulfilled His promise and gave her a son.

Genesis 21:1 says:

“And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.”

When God visited Hannah, her sorrow gave way to joy as she received the child she had prayed for.

These examples remind us that God sees the affliction of His people, hears their prayers and is able to intervene according to His perfect will and timing.

Perhaps you have been praying for a long time. Perhaps you are facing repeated disappointments, family challenges, financial difficulties, delayed opportunities, spiritual battles or a situation that seems impossible to change.

Do not lose hope.

The God who visited Sarah, Hannah and the children of Israel is still faithful.

As you pray, ask the Lord to visit you with His mercy, deliver you from evil, restore what has been lost and establish His good purposes in your life.

Your present situation does not have to define your future.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR GOD TO VISIT YOU?

In the Bible, God's visitation can refer to His intervention in human affairs. It may bring judgment upon wickedness, but it can also bring mercy, deliverance, restoration, provision and the fulfillment of His promises.

When you pray, “O Lord, visit me,” you are asking God to:

1. Remember you in His mercy.
2. Hear your prayers and respond according to His will.
3. Deliver you from oppression and destructive circumstances.
4. Restore your joy, peace and spiritual strength.
5. Open doors of opportunity and provide direction.
6. Heal broken relationships and bring peace into your household.
7. Give you wisdom to overcome challenges.
8. Establish the good work He has begun in your life.
9. Break the influence of sin, fear and destructive patterns.
10. Turn seasons of sorrow into testimonies of His faithfulness.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF DIVINE VISITATION

1. God Visited Sarah — Genesis 21:1–3

Sarah waited many years for the fulfillment of God's promise. At the appointed time, God visited her, and Isaac was born.

Lesson: Waiting does not mean that God has forgotten you.

2. God Visited Hannah — 1 Samuel 1:19–20

Hannah poured out her heart before the Lord. The Bible says that the Lord remembered her, and she conceived and gave birth to Samuel.

Lesson: Bring your deepest burdens to God in prayer.

3. God Visited Manoah's Family — Judges 13:2–25

God sent an angel to announce the birth of Samson and reveal His purpose for the child.

Lesson: God can bring direction and hope into a family's future.

4. God Visited Israel in Egypt — Exodus 3:7–10

God saw the suffering of His people, heard their cries and raised Moses to lead them out of bondage.

Lesson: God is able to intervene when human strength is insufficient.

Luke 1:68 says:

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people.”

Through Jesus Christ, God brought redemption and the promise of eternal life.
