Isaiah 6:1
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up.”
1 John 3:8
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
FOR YOUR DAVID TO MANIFEST, YOUR GOLIATH MUST FALL
There are battles that stand between a person and the manifestation of God's purpose.
Some breakthroughs will not come until the power of God cuts off the blockers of those breakthroughs.
Some situations appear to have stubborn resistance attached to them. Some doors seem repeatedly blocked. Some people experience opposition whenever they are close to moving forward.
David had to confront Goliath before his public manifestation.
Israel had to confront Pharaoh before they entered their freedom.
Esther had to confront a deadly plot before her people experienced deliverance.
Therefore, there are times when believers must arise in prayer and ask God to deal with everything standing against His purpose for their lives.
Psalm 18:17 says:
“He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.”
When the enemy appears stronger than you, remember that God is stronger than the enemy.
WHEN GOD REMOVES WHAT IS BLOCKING YOUR DESTINY
The death of King Uzziah marked a significant prophetic transition for Isaiah.
Isaiah 6:1 says:
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up.”
This does not mean that every difficult person must literally die for your destiny to progress.
Rather, it teaches us that God can remove obstacles, change circumstances, close wrong doors and open the way for His purpose to manifest.
Sometimes what needs to die is not a person but a stronghold, limitation, evil pattern, spiritual obstruction, fear, bondage or satanic work.
The prayer of the believer is therefore:
“O God, remove everything that is standing against Your purpose for my life.”
THE PURPOSE OF CHRIST IS TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL
1 John 3:8 declares:
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
The enemy's agenda is described in John 10:10:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”
But Jesus came that we might have life.
Therefore, when you face persistent opposition, do not surrender.
Stand upon the Word of God.
Pray.
Believe.
Resist every work of darkness.
James 4:7 says:
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE BATTLE IS STUBBORN?
What do you do:
- when you feel surrounded by opposition?
- when strongholds appear determined to stop your progress?
- when the spirit of Saul appears to be pursuing your David?
- when you feel that your name has been remembered for evil?
- when people or circumstances seem determined to frustrate your progress?
- when every apparent escape route seems blocked?
- when sickness, poverty, failure, marital problems or other serious difficulties seem to resist your prayers?
You take the battle to God in prayer.
You do not surrender your faith.
You do not surrender your destiny.
You do not allow fear to rule your heart.
Psalm 34:19 says:
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”
STOP EVERY WORK OF DARKNESS BEFORE IT STOPS YOUR PROGRESS
The original burden of this message is simple:
If you don't stop them, they will stop you. So, STOP THEM BEFORE THEY STOP YOU.
The believer should confront persistent problems through prayer, faith, the Word of God and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
When facing serious physical or mental health conditions, seek appropriate medical care while continuing to pray. Prayer and responsible care do not have to be enemies.
The same principle applies to other areas of life.
If poverty is resisting your progress, pray and take wise steps.
If failure is repeatedly appearing, pray and examine the areas where you need growth.
If marital problems are threatening your home, pray and pursue wise counsel.
If fear is stopping your progress, pray and stand upon God's Word.
If spiritual opposition is troubling you, pray aggressively and remain rooted in Christ.
HOW DO YOU STOP THEM?
1. PROPHESY AGAINST THEM
To prophesy against a mountain in the context of warfare prayer means to confront the problem before God through prayer and the authority of His Word.
It means:
- to pray against;
- to pray with spiritual boldness;
- to pray persistently;
- to pray fervently;
- to speak God's judgment against evil works;
- to speak against the mountain standing before your progress;
- to declare the Word of God over your situation;
- to ask God to destroy every work of darkness;
- to speak prophetic utterances concerning your breakthrough.
Jesus said in Mark 11:23:
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed...”
Therefore, rise in faith and pray.
PREPARING YOUR HEART FOR WARFARE PRAYER
Before praying these prayer points:
- Repent of known sins.
- Ask God for mercy.
- Forgive those who have offended you.
- Renounce every practice contrary to your faith in Christ.
- Worship God.
- Read the Scriptures aloud.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you.
- Pray with faith rather than fear.
- Refuse discouragement.
- Thank God for victory.
