Introduction
Broken promises can be deeply painful.
Someone may promise to help you and later disappear.
Someone may promise an opportunity and fail to deliver.
Someone may make a commitment and repeatedly disappoint you.
A person may promise financial assistance, marriage, employment, partnership, support, or another important opportunity and then fail to keep their word.
Repeated disappointment can produce anger, discouragement, frustration, mistrust, and hopelessness.
But God is faithful.
People can fail.
People can change their minds.
People can forget their commitments.
People can make promises they were never able or willing to fulfill.
God, however, remains faithful.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:13, “he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.”
Therefore, do not build your entire hope upon the promise of a human being.
Bring every broken promise before God.
Ask Him to heal your heart.
Ask Him to expose unreliable relationships.
Ask Him to send trustworthy helpers.
Ask Him to restore legitimate opportunities that were lost.

What the Bible Says About Broken Promises
The Bible makes it clear that human beings can fail.
Proverbs 25:19 compares trusting an unreliable person in trouble to relying on a broken tooth or an unstable foot.
But God is different.
Hebrews 10:23 says:
“He is faithful that promised.”
God does not abandon His people.
Psalm 37:5 says:
“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Therefore, when someone breaks a promise, do not conclude that your entire future has been destroyed.
God can provide another way.
He can raise another helper.
He can open another door.
He can restore what was lost.
