Introduction
Coming to Jesus Christ is the beginning of a new life.
A new believer may have left behind sinful habits, ungodly relationships, destructive patterns, occult practices, fear, bitterness, or other things that once influenced their life. Because of this, it is important for new believers to establish themselves firmly in Christ and learn how to walk in the freedom He gives.
Salvation is not merely changing religion. It is becoming a new creation in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) says:
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
New believers should therefore not live in fear of their past.
Jesus Christ is greater than every power of darkness.
At the same time, a new believer needs to grow in God's Word, prayer, obedience, fellowship, and spiritual understanding. Deliverance prayer can be part of this process when a person is struggling with areas of bondage or needs prayer and spiritual support.

What the Bible Says About Deliverance for New Believers
The Bible teaches that believers have been transferred from the power of darkness into the kingdom of God's Son.
Colossians 1:13 (KJV) says:
"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son."

New believers should therefore understand that their identity is now in Christ.
They should not continually identify themselves with their past.
They should learn God's Word, pray, fellowship with other believers, and allow the Holy Spirit to produce spiritual growth in their lives.
Why New Believers Need Spiritual Strength
A new believer may face:
- Temptation to return to former habits
- Fear concerning the past
- Pressure from former relationships
- Spiritual confusion
- Discouragement
- Attacks against faith
- Difficulty understanding Scripture
- Pressure from ungodly environments
- Old sinful patterns
- Spiritual weakness
These challenges should not cause a new believer to abandon Christ.
Instead, they should become reasons to draw closer to God.
