50 WARFARE PRAYERS AGAINST FORCES OF DARKNESS WITH BIBLE VERSES

Key Scriptures

Ephesians 6:12

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”

Luke 10:19

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.”

Isaiah 54:17

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”

Colossians 2:15

“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Introduction

There are battles in life that cannot be understood merely by looking at circumstances. The Bible teaches believers to recognize that spiritual warfare is real and that there are powers of darkness that oppose the purposes of God.

Ephesians 6:12 speaks about principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places.

But the believer does not fight from a position of defeat.

Jesus Christ has already triumphed over principalities and powers. Therefore, these prayers are not prayers of fear. They are prayers of faith, authority, deliverance, protection and victory through Jesus Christ.

As you pray, bring before God every area where you need His intervention—your spiritual life, family, marriage, children, health, work, business, finances, destiny, relationships, progress and future.

Let every power of darkness opposing God's purpose for your life be confronted through prayer and the authority of the Word of God.

Pray with faith. Pray with understanding. Pray persistently.

WHAT ARE THE FORCES OF DARKNESS?

The phrase “forces of darkness” is used here to describe spiritual opposition against the purposes of God and the lives of His people.

The Bible refers to:

  • Principalities and powers.
  • Rulers of the darkness of this world.
  • Spiritual wickedness.
  • The works of the devil.
  • Satanic opposition.
  • Demonic oppression.
  • Evil spiritual influences.

This does not mean that every difficulty in life is caused by a demonic power. Believers should also deal wisely with practical, relational, financial, medical and personal issues.

However, where spiritual warfare is involved, we can confidently bring the battle before God in prayer.

Our confidence is in Christ.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF GOD'S POWER OVER DARKNESS

1. Jesus Defeated the Power of Satan

Jesus demonstrated His authority over demons and the works of darkness.

Luke 10:19

“Behold, I give unto you power... over all the power of the enemy.”

2. David Overcame Goliath

David faced an enemy that appeared much stronger than himself, but he trusted in the power of God.

1 Samuel 17:47

“The battle is the LORD'S.”

3. Daniel Was Preserved

Daniel faced opposition and danger, yet God delivered him.

Daniel 6:22

“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths.”

4. Esther and God's People Were Delivered

A deadly plan against God's people was overturned, and the people received victory.

Esther 9:1

“The Jews had rule over them that hated them.”

5. Paul Was Delivered From the Serpent

Paul encountered danger but was preserved by God.

Acts 28:5

“And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.”

These examples remind us that God remains the ultimate source of our protection and victory.

AREAS TO BRING BEFORE GOD IN WARFARE PRAYER

You can pray concerning:

  • Your spiritual life.
  • Your family.
  • Your marriage.
  • Your children.

  • Your destiny.
  • Your opportunities.
  • Your relationships.

  • Your home.
  • Your ministry.
  • Your future.

Do not pray only against darkness. Also pray for God's presence, wisdom, protection, restoration and direction.
